Asakusa Konohana Brewery
We teamed up with Oliver Chan, a sake lecturer, importer and retailer in Hong Kong, to organize a tour of Konohana Brewery in Asakusa.
On this day, more than 50 people were visiting Japan from Hong Kong to coincide with the world's largest sake event, the Japanese Sake Fair, and 20 of them joined the tour.
There is a strong interest in sake in Hong Kong, and I was surprised to find that all of the participants this time held some sort of sake qualification.
We gathered at 9:30 in the morning and enjoyed tasting five types of sake while listening to talks from Konohana Brewery's representative, Mr. Hosoi, and head brewer, Mr. Kimura.
Like Tokyo, Hong Kong also has limited land, making it difficult to build a large brewery, and so there is a lot of interest in urban brewing facilities like Kibana Brewery. There were even participants who were planning to build a brewery in Hong Kong, and there was talk that Kibana Brewery might also set up a brewery in Hong Kong, so the venue was buzzing with excitement from the morning.
We plan to continue collaborating with Oliver and organize multi-day tours of sake breweries. We are very happy to be able to serve as a bridge between enthusiastic people and the local community.
The Asakusa half-day tour, which includes a visit to Konohana Brewery, is held every Tuesday morning and on other days upon request.
