On July 19th, a business matching event for processed foods and travel from the six Tohoku prefectures and Ibaraki prefecture, sponsored by JETRO and co-sponsored by JNTO, was held in Mexico City, where we gave a presentation on Japanese sake and regional tours.
At the end of last year, JETRO and JNTO confirmed their intention to cooperate in the areas of agricultural, forestry, and fishery product and food exports, as well as inbound tourism, and this business meeting marks the first time they have co-hosted the two organizations since then.
There were also booths set up promoting rice and seafood products from Tohoku, and freshly cooked rice and abalone were provided.
We spoke to local travel agencies about tours to Japan, Japanese sake, and the attractions of areas other than the Golden Route. We participated online with a local interpreter, but the excitement at the venue was so intense that it was obvious even through the screen, and the attendees responded enthusiastically to our calls.
We would like to continue to actively participate in similar opportunities in the future and deepen our ties with overseas travel agencies.
