We participated in the Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) held in Sapporo, Hokkaido.
I participated in the Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) held in Sapporo, Hokkaido from September 11th to 14th. ATWS is the world's largest adventure travel event, held once a year. Approximately 800 people from travel agencies, media, tour operators, outdoor manufacturers, government tourism bureaus, tourism associations, DMOs, etc. from about 60 countries around the world participated, and during the event, adventure travel experiences, lectures, seminars, business meetings, etc. were held.
In the first place, adventure travel refers to a form of travel in which you experience nature and different cultures through activities, have fun interacting with local people, and gain a deeper understanding of the local nature and culture, resulting in a change on the inside of you.
We decided to participate in the event in order to introduce sake tours to the world, based on the idea that sake tourism can also be categorized as adventure travel, in that it involves visiting a local area, learning about its history and culture, interacting with people and enjoying sake.
For four days, I repeatedly gave elevator pitches in English about sake tourism, but sake is not well known, so I had a hard time explaining what sake is. It was completely different from explaining alcohol to people from overseas at a sake event, and I was quite confused, but I realized that this is what it means to convey sake to the world, and I didn't have time to be confused, so I was motivated.
We will continue to work hard to convey the appeal of sake and Japanese regions.
